"Ibland blir man lite lätt knockad.

- Robert Ryttman / Zero Magazine -
"The Grand Undoing’s 1st single from 'Songs For The Sleeping' is a study in both how big and how small we are at the same time. There’s a bit of floating in helplessness, or disconnecting from one’s own power in lines like 'the sergeant at arms is wasted and sleeping'."
- Kenneth Bremer / Blue Desert -
"I found this album satisfying and unified. I appreciate a vocal that doesn’t follow the path of hair band rock styles, or grungy, anxiety ridden, crybaby pathos. These vocals have a formal finish, serene and still hold to a moderate authority in their excellent projection. This is an interesting sounding band. A pastry with some rum in it. Yes."
- John Apice / Americana Higways -
"Regardless of various similarities and points of reference, The Grand Undoing carries out their own style, which proves to be very imaginative and varied due to quite different nuances and complete songs. This is certainly ensured by the various guests, most famously drummer Dave Mattacks, the British musician who has made a name for himself since his participation in Fairport Convention."
- Wofgang Giese / Musik An Sich -
"Melodic vocals support Goodmans somewhat theatrical singing. We hear characteristic, frisky bass runs and fuzzy strings. A sunny pop song is complemented by melodic background vocals and xylophone sounds. After an intro with layered keyboard work, one song blossoms with exuberant vocals and floaty guitar parts. The piano of Dave Mattacks, the renowned percussionist with a past at Fairport Convention, also takes the drumsticks from the equally talented Dave Westner."

"This must be something beautiful you would think when you look at the album cover of 'Songs For The Sleeping'. I always have a soft spot for these kinds of painted images and usually the music is fine. I didn't quite expect what I hear next, but The Grand Undoing, a band from Boston, knows how to make enough of an impression with this album, and results in a pleasant listening experience."

"After his previous excellent albums, the Boston based singer songwriter and multi instrumentalist Seth Goodman has now released a new 9 songs album, ‘Songs For The Sleeping’, under his alter ego The Great Undoing. We tend to conclude that this is his very best album up to now. After each listening session we can only state that this is a real growing record full of strong pop and alt rock songs, which sometimes remind us of legendary vocalists like David Bowie or Scott Walker.“
- Valére Sampermans / Rootstime -
"The Grand Undoing's Seth Goodman, popped up in the past as a guitarist for Eileen Rose's former studio work. In addition to the guitar parts, he presents himself as a multi instrumentalist in his musical project The Grand Undoing, and on longplayers such as 'Sparks Rain Down From The Lights Of Love' and 'In A Vigil State', Goodman showcases his personal repertoire, a patchwork of perfect, classic pop with richly varied instrumentation in a production once again set up together with musician Ted Powers. This 5th full length album was created in Katonah, New York State, and Goodman is flanked by a skilled team of musical friends, such as guitarist Keith Jackson and pedal steelman Kurt Johnson.
- Cis van Looy / Written In Music -
"Through his creative and authorial depth, melody that comes from another layer, Seth Goodman, together with his collaborators in The Grand Undoing, delivers a portion of diverse songs, interweaving rock, pop, progressive rock pastiche, and certain reflections, mostly deriving from the 1980's. The material possesses a uniform atmosphere and a similar psychology, once again emphasizing the author’s rich experience. It is a convincing work, which may not grab you on first listen, but gradually wins you over."
