"Greg Copeland's 'The Tango Bar' indeed sounds like an album, and a very good one. The contemplative compositions, all by Copeland, though he had cowriters for 2 of them, are melodic and poetic, and the atmospheric, understated performances, which prominently feature piano and guitar, are consistently amiable. Copeland’s weathered voice enlivens 5 of the tracks, such as the appropriately brooding 'Lou Reed' and the accordion flavored 'Let Him Dream', but elsewhere he cedes centerstage to a couple of terrific female vocalists, Caitlin Canty and Inara George, daughter of the late Little Feat leader Lowell George."

"Greg Copeland's 'The Tango Bar' is one of 2020’s best records, and the promise of more is tantalizing and delightful."

- Michael Witthaus / Local Rhythms -

"'The Tango Bar' is a beautiful album, with a distinctive atmosphere. There are strong musical contributions from the well chosen musicians and vocalists. Nothing superfluous. At the same time, the music and the meaningful, but not obvious lyrics, also provide enough resistance that this is interesting to listen to. Again and again and again."

- Tormod Reiersen / Popklikk -

"In 'The Tango Bar', and its untitled companion album, out next year, Copeland has found his own style somewhere between Jason Isbell and Joe Henry, and he has earned his own place among America’s contemporary songwriters."

- Kenneth Bremer / Blue Desert -

"Greg Copeland has either written or co-written all of the tracks and I think it is here that he is most comfortable, allowing the lyrics to express his feelings about life, love and just about everything else. It contains beautiful heartfelt lyrics, which perfectly paint a mosaic of life. It is not an album to set the pulse running wild but it will mellow your mood and bring a warm glow to you. Greg is a remarkable songwriter and performer, fully deserving all the accolades that he receives."

- Rory M Stanbridge / Fatea Magazine -

"Greg Copeland turns in an album that prowls and slouches in a magnificent manner. Think of Bob Dylan's atmospheric meanderings on 'Time Out Of Mind', along with a whiff of Lou Reed's 'New York' album."

- Paul Kerr / R2 Rock'N'Reel Magazine -

"If you like your music with meaning, if you like it stripped down, if you like music that is still somewhat warm, but also a tad unsettling, with strangely deep, strong meaningful lyrics then 'The Tango Bar' is just for you. Fact is, the more I’ve played it, the more I like it!"

- Alan Harrison / The Rocking Magpie -

"Although launching only his 3rd album in a career that started in the early 80's, with the newest album ‘The Tango Bar’ the 74 year old singer songwriter Greg Copeland from Los Angeles has succeeded in delivering only true masterpieces that each deserve to be purchased and listened to.“

- Valére Sampermans / Rootstime -
