West Of Eden

Sweden
Almost 30 years down the road, Swedish folk band West Of Eden return with an exceptional album entitled “Lighthousekeeping”. And for the 1st time in their career they now dive full on into the Celtic tradition that has always been such a major influence on their songwriting.
They’re doing so by returning to the lighthouse keeper’s house on the west coast of Sweden where West Of Eden did their very 1st show many, many moons ago. In June 1994 Jenny and Martin Schaub, West Of Eden’s founding members and principal songwriters, got married, and as the night drew to an end they slipped out of their wedding clothes and took to 'the stage' with their newly formed band of close friends.
Cut to 3 decades later, and the band once again find themselves in the same house and the same room, making an album consisting of their favourite traditional songs.
This time they work together with Scottish star musician John McCusker (Mark Knopfler and much more) to record new and exciting versions of these beloved standards, fusing traditional instruments such as bodhrán and the uilleann pipes, here played by Michael McGoldrick, with influences from the British folk rock scene of the 70’s.
It’s a warm and joyous, but also brave album, that keeps the beacon of the Celtic songbook firmly burning, while breathing fresh air into the old tradition, hopefully drawing new listeners to these timeless songs.
The new album, "Lighthousekeeping", will be released digitally and physically on April 24th, 2026.
