- Micheles Kindh / Blaskan -
"This is a fine, largely homegrown album with plenty of depth in its lyrics, contemplating family life, great tunes and lovely, well judged accompaniment."
- Jeremy Clarke-Williams / Americana UK -
"My Girl The River's album 'Manifest Good Things' is a confident, beautifully crafted statement from Kris Wilkinson Hughes, a songwriter, producer and multi instrumentalist whose work has long deserved wider recognition."
- Mike Davies / Fatea Magazine -
"They say good things come to those who wait. With this album you don’t have to."
- Mike Davies / Folking -
"The frequently used background vocal parts and the lush string arrangements contribute to the emotional depth of the album and form a dense and unifying charisma that can quickly creep into the soul, and when the lap steel sounds whimpering on 'Where Does The Rain Come From', you feel trapped in this world of harmony and full of emotional depth."
- Wolfgang Giese / Musik An Sich -
"'Manifest Good Things' is a convincing entry into the album format for My Girl The River, a record that starts small, but ends big. A work that doesn't cry out for attention, but that deserves attention because of its honesty, its warmth and its craftsmanship. It is music that you not only hear, but that you can also feel, and that is perhaps the most beautiful thing an album can do for the listener."
