"Sir Patrick Spens” is the lead single from West Of Eden’s forthcoming album "Lighthousekeeping".

West Of Eden have been called 'the best of contemporary folk' by Irish Music Magazine, as well as 'masters of their genre'. Not bad for a Swedish band who, flying a bit under the radar, have stubbornly been writing their own songs and breaking new paths within the Celtic song tradition.

Now, after almost 3 decades, the time has finally come for a full album of exclusively traditional songs.

1st up is ”Sir Patrick Spens”, an old Scottish maritime ballad, which in West Of Eden’s hands has been transformed into a groovy folk rocker reminiscent of giants like Fairport Convention or Steeleye Span.

This song, featuring Michael McGoldrick on the uilleann pipes, is yet another great example of this band’s versatility and also their ability to breathe fresh air into the tradition which they so clearly love.

The single, "Sir Patrick Spens", will be released on all download and streaming sites February 27th, 2026, and the album, "Lighthousekeeping", will be digitally and physically released on April 24th.
