Only a year on from the release of their self titled debut album, supergroup Butler, Blake & Grant have announced the follow up, Murmurs, which will be released in March. The record sees the trio, Bernard Butler (Suede, McAlmont & Butler), Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub) and James Grant (Love And Money), reimagining songs from their respective back catalogues.

Butler, Blake & Grant formed when Scottish musician, Douglas MacIntyre, who promotes F.R.E.T.S. Concerts, invited them to perform a low key concert in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, guessing that they would work well together. The trio then performed all over the UK and recorded a critically acclaimed 2024 album of original material at Blake’s home on the banks of the River Clyde.

For "Murmurs", the group reassembled at Blake’s studio to capture the original premise for the very early shows they played, 3 guitars, 3 voices, and selections from 3 impressive back catalogues.

The 1st song to be released from Murmurs is "Lonely Night", written by Blake, which initially appeared as a bonus track called "Dark And Lonely Night" on Teenage Fanclub’s 2010 album, "Shadows".

Others songs on "Murmurs" include a version of Teenage Fanclub’s "Planets", from their 1997 album, "Songs From Northern Britain", a new take on Butler’s "Not Alone", from his 1998 debut solo album, "People Move On", and a version of Love And Money’s "Last Ship On The River", which featured on the Scottish band’s 4th studio album, "Littledeath", which came out in 1993.

Of the 10 tracks featured on the new album, only one doesn’t originate from the trio, "Me & Magdelana", which was written by Blake’s friend, Ben Gibbard of Death Cab For Cutie and The Postal Service, for The Monkees’ 2016 reunion album "Good Times!".

The long player is available as an exclusive, crystal clear vinyl version, limited to 350 copies, from the Butler, Blake & Grant official shop. This edition boasts an alternate sleeve. The standard vinyl is silver and is limited to 1 000 copies.

"Murmurs" is released on March 27th, 2026, via 355 Recordings.
