A new artist emerges every minute in America. Some come out of the gate early, and some travel many roads before that musical door to the world opens for them. Born in the Bronx, living in Kansas City and Houston, before settling in Austin, Barbara Bergin has gathered a lifetime of experience before opening that door.

Barbara went to medical school and after completing training, she co-founded Texas Orthopedics, Sports & Rehabilitation Associates in Austin where she is a revered orthopedic surgeon. All the while, she raised a family and remains very close to her 2 children, who are on their own now. She’s also a public speaker to audiences ranging from community groups to academia to medical professionals and oh, she’s also a 2018 and 2019 Year End Champion reiner in the South Texas Reining Horse Association and the Texas Reining Horse Association.

But this year, Barbara Bergin steps out of her surgery scrubs, puts on her jeans, cowgirl boots and shirt and takes on her most recent persona, that of the charismatic singer, songwriter and performer she has become. A top 3 finalist in the 2018 Texas Troubadour Songwriter Classic and a 2019 winner of the Hondo Crouch Presents Outlaw Open Mic Live Music Competition, Barbara is a regular guest of The Gospel Brunch Purgatory Players at El Mercado Backstage and a regular performer at Austin’s New World Deli listening room where she packs the house each time she plays.

"Blood Red Moon", Barbara Bergin’s debut CD, features a colorful cast of characters from the young prince of Wales to the captain of the Robert E Lee to a possum in the corn. Her musical stories are contemplative, rowdy, old fashioned and come from a place in her soul that reveals the many facets of an artist who’s come a long way on the road of life.
