"I had recorded 'I Never Heard You Say' one on one with Willie, at the same session where we recorded 'Hard Promises To Keep'. It was just the 2 of us on vocals and acoustic guitars, his being the famous 'Trigger' with the big hole worn in it, where there is no pick guard. Later, Mickey Raphael was in town, and we wanted to overdub him playing harmonica on it, but he didn’t have a harmonica in the right key with him. We slowed the tape speed down so it would be tuned to the harmonica he did have on hand. It took about half the afternoon for him to play it, but when we sped it back up to listen it was absolutely brilliant! Many years later, when I donated a lot of archives to The Southwest Library in Lubbock, Texas, my hometown, I had the opportunity to get into the studio with engineer Amy De Voge and revisit all of the original tracks of the sessions on the analogue multi track tape machine. I was delighted to find an outtake that had been left behind when we had decided which recording to use. You won’t hear the harmonica from Mickey on this bonus track because he was overdubbed onto the original release version. You will however hear the pedal steel work of David Zettner, an unsung 'jack of all trades' legend who had become the bassist in Willie’s band when he split from the Ray Price band to go solo." ~ Kimmie Rhodes

"I Never Heard You Say" is the 2nd single to be released from Kimmie Rhodes forthcoming release "West Texas Heaven Revisited", the original album remastered with lots of bonus tracks.
