Manifest Good Things

Acclaimed Louisiana and UK based songwriter, artist, producer Kris Wilkinson Hughes a.k.a. My Girl The River returns with her 4th album, "Manifest Good Things", packed full of richly melodic, hooky, cleverly layered, emotionally resonant songs. Genre blending, the album draws on folk, americana, roots, rock and even a bit of 70's Laurel Canyon for inspiration.

Attracting glowing reviews ahead of its release, Rock 'N' Reel Magazine's Rick Bayles gave "Manifest Good Things" a 5+ review.

My Girl The River’s acoustic version of "No More I Love Yous", released in 2025, has been praised by many, most calling it out for the beautiful simplicity of the acoustic arrangement and Kris’ vocal delivery.

Drawing comparisons to distinctive artists such as Joni Mitchell, kd lang, Brandi Carlile and Lucinda Williams, Kris has forged her own vocal style, intimate, rich, and effortlessly expressive, "Manifest Good Things", tracked in Cambridgeshire's Saltwell Studio with bassist husband Joe Hughes and drummer and engineer Chris Pepper gives it that live performance feel.

Filling out the vision, Kris called upon world class musician friends, from Nashville to Germany to send in their parts. Guitarist George Marinelli (Bonnie Raitt), keyboardist Jerry Dale McFadden (The Mavericks), Nashville string arranger and performer Kristin Wilkinson, UK based keyboardist Harry Whittey, old friend and guitarist Steve Lee (The Sorentinos), daughter Rue on harmonies and a few others to add their sparkle and emotive touch.

Reflecting on the album, Kris says, "This is the best collection of songs I've ever made. Every track means something to me and together they tell a story about finding hope, embracing change and appreciating the people who walk alongside us. Growing up and showing up for each other, weathering life together".

The album also marks My Girl The River's 1st ever vinyl release underlining its significance as a landmark project. "This is an investment. I don't take it lightly. I want something I can listen to with a smile on my face. If I'm happy, then I know I've done my best. This album is evidence that you really can manifest good things. This album exists through a crowdfund, which means anything really is possible".

The career defining new album, "Manifest Good Things", is out on September 4th, 2026.
